ABOUT

Indonesian Church of CHRIST

Statement of Faith

As the followers of Jesus Christ, who claims He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, we believe we owe it to you to let you know what we believe about the following doctrinal essentials.

WE BELIEVE that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

WE BELIEVE that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.

WE BELIEVE in God the Father, an infinite personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and His personal, visible return to earth.

WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that all people are sinners by nature and choice and therefore, are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes seeking believers with the Holy Spirit, empowering them for service.

WE BELIEVE in the universal Church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church: 1) water baptism, and 2) the Lord’s Supper. Although baptism by immersion is preferred, baptism by sprinkling is fully acceptable; communion is open to all believers.

WE BELIEVE also in the laying on of hands for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons and for the receiving of gifts of the Spirit of healing.

WE BELIEVE in the personal, visible return of Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and the endless suffering of the wicked.

WE BELIEVE in what is termed “The Apostle’s Creed” as embodying fundamental facts of the Christian faith.

WE BELIEVE that nations are the way GOD has organized the world, and that for Christians the ability to master any language is a blessing that should honor GOD by taking the opportunity to preach and teach the full counsel of GOD

Church Profile

The Indonesian Church for Christ (GIBK) was founded in June 7, 2021 with the primary goal of fulfilling the Great Commission in this generation.

Many Indonesians have migrated to the USA, and not all of them have attended church. Therefore, GIBK actively reaches out to these Indonesians to worship, so that they can become useful American citizens and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ as Head of the Church.

In addition to upholding the Three Calls of the Church: Koinonia, Marturia, and Diakoria, GIBK actively equips all its members to participate in discipleship activities as GIBK’s core ministry.

The most notable development is that since the beginning of 2024, GIBK has conducted the first batch of BE-MOVE (Berean Evangelization Movement), with participants that included representatives from several other Indonesian churches in Southern California.

The BE-MOVE program teaches practical methods of evangelism, small group mentoring, and lectures on various discipleship themes. The materials are adapted from Campus Crusade for Christ in the USA and are structured into an intensive 26-week discipleship curriculum, consisting of classroom lectures and field practice. Graduates who have completed the program are expected to return to their respective churches to expand this discipleship ministry and become ministry partners of GIBK.

The second batch of BE-MOVE was also completed in 2025, with participants from California and Colorado. Meanwhile, the third batch of BE-MOVE will begin again in April 2026, targeting representatives from other Indonesian churches across the USA. Each BE-MOVE participant (referred to as a Student) is mentored by a Coach who assists them in growing in knowledge, skills, and the heart attitude of a disciple of Christ.

In addition, GIBK has opened the Bible Exposition Class (KEK), which systematically studies all 69 books of the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation. The KEK program began in 2024 with meetings held twice a week. To date, it has completed the study of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. Completing one full cycle of KEK (from Genesis to Revelation) requires approximately five years.
